Minor Travel Authorization

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for contacting our office regarding the Authorization of a Minor for Departure from Panama.

Attached you will find the instructions for this process. Please read and follow the instructions carefully, as they have been recently updated.

NOTE: The travel authorization issued by this office applies only to minors who:

  1. Were born in Panama,

  2. Were registered in Panama as Panamanians born abroad, or

  3. Are residents of Panama.

If your case does not fall within these categories, you cannot process the minor authorization through our office. For minors of United States nationality, please contact your airline directly.

AUTHORIZATION OF MINOR – MINOR TRAVELING OUT OF PANAMA

FIRST STEP: Submit Required Documents

To process the travel authorization, please send the following documents via email:

  • Copy of the minor’s passport(s)

  • Copy of the parent authorizing the travel

  • Copy of the responsible adult

  • Copy of the minor’s birth certificate

  • Travel itinerary with dates

    • Note: If there are multiple departures from Panama, submit each itinerary so that a separate authorization letter can be issued for each departure.

SECOND STEP: Letter Preparation

Once we receive the documents, we will prepare the authorization letter. Estimated processing time: 10–15 business days.

  • The completed letter will be sent to you by email. Ensure that all information is correct.

  • The same email will include a link to schedule your virtual appointment via Zoom. Please schedule your appointment using this link.

THIRD STEP: Virtual Appointment

On the day of your appointment, please have:

  • Authorization letter – printed and unsigned

  • Copies of all documents previously sent

Note: Your appointment with the official is strictly notarial. Any questions or concerns must be sent by email before your appointment. The appointment is only to witness your signature on the document.

FOURTH STEP: Shipping Documents to Our Office

Your package must include:

  • Authorization letter – printed and unsigned

  • Copies of all previously sent documents

  • Money order for $135.00

FIFTH STEP: Authentication and Notification

Upon receipt of your documents, we will:

  1. Authenticate the authorization letter, and

  2. Notify Panama–Tocumen International Airport Immigration that the minor will be departing from Tocumen International Airport.

Important Note:

  • If the minor will be departing from a different airport other than Panama-Tocumen International Airport or leave Panama by land, the minor must travel with the original documents.

  • We can ship the authenticated documents to the responsible adult in Panama. For this shipment, please provide an additional money order of $45.00, covering the difference in FedEx service cost from our office to Panama instead of to you. When we send documents to Panama it takes about 3-4 days to get there, please plan accordingly.
