    The General Directorate of Seafarers has implemented the Seafarer's Automated Application System (SAA) designed to submit, complete, and well document STCW compliant seafarer's application. This tool will allow greater operational flexibility for shipowners and ship managers in saving money, personnel resource, and time.

 

Preliminary Registration of Vessel Under The Panamanian Flag

The registration process consists of two stages: preliminary and permanent. The Consulate is authorized to proceed with the preliminary registration and issue temporary documentation including a provisional Certificate of Registration (also known as “Patente”) and a provisional Radio License, both valid for six (6) months. The process is usually completed within the same day once the registration fees and first year’s annual taxes are received by the Consulate.

Preliminary Registration of Ownership Title / Mortgage, Amendment and Discharge of Mortgage

The process is simple and is usually completed within the same day, as long as all the required documents are presented together with the completed application forms. In reference to the number of copies, be advised that it is up to the interest parties, however, our office has to keep one original of each document in our files. Please contact us at least one (1) business day in advanced for availability to schedule your preliminary registration.

The Consulate of Panama in Los Angeles can accept notarized documents only from CALIFORNIA, NEVADA, ARIZONA, WASHINGTON STATE, OREGON and IDAHO.

Sale of Panamanian Publications (log books, oil record books, crew lists)

We are able to supply the latest editions of the following publications for all Panamanian vessels:

  • to ensure prompt delivery, all orders of five (5) Panamanian publications are sent via courier free of charge.
