Pet Travel

If you are traveling with Pets to Panama, please follow the instructions below before e-mailing us.

STEP 1: Go to the pet's Veterinarian (recognized by the USDA) and have him fill out the Export Certificate of Good Health for small animals issued by the United States Department of Agriculture.- This form must be Certified by a USDA Veterinary Officer.

STEP 2: After obtaining the Certificate of Good Health already Certified by your Veterinarian and by the USDA Veterinarian, the ORIGINAL Certificate has to be Authenticated by the Consulate General of Panama or it can be apostilled by the Apostille Office of the Secretary of State of the State where the document originates.

STEP 3: Send ORIGINAL Document to our offices.- Include an Introductory letter with your full name, telephone number, email, date and time of the trip.- The consular fee is $30.00 per document. (If there are more than 01 pets traveling and the USDA put it in the same package it would be a single charge. If they put it in another package it is 30.00 for each group.)- In the envelope, please write in printed letter "TRAVELING WITH PETS URGENT" on the outside of the envelope you send us in order to process it faster.

For the return of your documents there are two options:

1.) Include prepaid envelope with your address.

2.) Include additional Money Order in the amount of $40.00 (please include address where we will send the documents when they are ready in the introductory letter.)

NOTE: Be sure to check with your airline for more information on the airline's guidelines when traveling with pets. Please note that airlines require a U.S.D.A. Certificate valid for at least 10 days from the day of issue.

PAPER PROCEDURES FOR HOUSEHOLD QUARANTINE GIVEN ON ARRIVAL IN PANAMA

1. Complete the form "Request for home quarantine"

2. Upon arrival at the Tocumen Airport, all the documents mentioned above must be delivered to the Veterinarian of the Zoonosis Control Department, who will verify the same.

3. If the owner meets all the requirements, the animals will be returned to their owner. If the requirements are not met, the pet will be sent back to the country of origin using the same airline that the pet arrived on.

4. The fee for home quarantine is B./ 130.00 per animal paid only in cash at the Tocumen Airport. NOTE: Send the "Home quarantine request" form 3 to 5 business days in advance of your arrival and the arrival of your pet, sending it to the Zoonosis Control Department. Take note of the following ministry working hours at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama: • Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. at 10:00 p.m. • Offices are closed on public holidays.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES FOR THE PROCESSING OF PETS WHEN ENTERING PANAMA

To carry out the processing of your pet more expeditiously and without risks for both the passenger and the staff working, take into consideration the following indications: 1. Before arriving in Panama, you must send "Request for Home Quarantine" and attach the image of the Panamanian passport or ID and the documents to present

PASO 1: Ir con el Veterinario de la mascota (reconocido par el USDA) y que Ilene el Certificado de Buena Salud de Exportaci6n para animales pequef\os emitidos por la Departamento de Agricultura de Estados Unidos de America. Esta forma tiene que ser Certificada por un oficial Veterinario del USDA.

PASO 2: Despues de obtener el Certificado de Buena Salud ya Certificado por su Veterinario y por el Veterinario del USDA el Certificado ORIGINAL tiene que ser Autenticado por el Consulado General de Panama o puede ser apostillado por la Oficina de Apostillas de la Secretaria de Estado del Estado donde se origina el documento.

PASO 3: Enviar Documento ORIGINAL a nuestras oficinas. lncluir carta introductoria con su nombre completo, numero de teléfono, correo electrónico, fecha y hora del Viaje. La tarifa consular es de $30.00 por documento. (si hay mas de 01 mascota viajando y el USDA lo puso en el mismo paquete sería un solo cobro. Si lo pusieron en otro paquete son 30.00 por cada grupo.) En el sobre, por favor escriba en letra impresa "VIAJANDO CON MASCOTAS URGENTE" en la parte exterior del sobre que nos envía para poder procesarlo más rápido.

Para la devolución de sus documentos hay dos opciones:

1.) Incluir un sobre prepagado con la dirección suya.

2.) lncluir Money Order adicional por la suma $40.00 (favor de incluir dirección donde vamos a enviarle las documentos cuando estén listos en la carta introductoria.) '

NOTA: Asegúrese de consultar con su aerolínea para obtener mas informaci6n sobre las pautas de la aerolínea cuando viaja con mascotas. Tenga en cuenta que las aerolíneas requieren un U.S.D.A. Certificado valido por al menos 10 días desde el día de su emisión.
